The splendor of “Tea Homeland, Wazuka” is expressed in sweets.
Wazuka Town, located in the southern part of Kyoto Prefecture, is the prefecture’s largest tea producing region and has been in existence for 800 years.
Many of the tea fields have been carved into the mountain slopes, and have adequate drainage, and the tea grown in this blessed environment has excellent color, aroma, and flavor, and is highly rated at national tea competitions.
Additionally, the Wazuka River that flows through the center of town and the temperature difference between day and night create a natural mist that blocks out light, resulting in matcha with a strong umami flavor.
Henri Charpentier hopes to elevate the value of “Wazuka Town and its matcha”, which Kyoto is so proud of, in the form of sweets and share it with as many people as possible.
